This is my design
Design is everything. Everything is design.
It really is everywhere, though. We talk about it in HISP classes, mostly architectural, but occasionally interior as well. Design is what I knit, what I wear, how I arrange my ridiculously large collection of stuffed animals, and those stuffed animals themselves. Designs follow temporal trends, but the very best ones transcend time and trends (I’m looking at you, Coke). As much as I love stuff like lots of colors, I’ve found, after a week of looking and thinking, that simple is best. Minimalism is where it’s at. Otherwise, there’s too much, and the point gets lost. I do it all the time. I get too wrapped up in details, trying to convey too much. I drove myself insane trying to design a knitting pattern, until I stepped back and stopped trying to include everything. It’s still a pain in my butt, however far easier to manage. Less is more. Simple is, to me, better. It works that way for almost everything, probably because design is everything.
Also that 1919 Russian poster is terrifying.
